Kindergartens Teach 8th Graders
|
Students in Dr. Oldham's World History learned about Charlemagne and the Frankish Kingdom and used a tool called Doodle Notes where students color historical figures and places as they take notes. To ensure that proper coloring techniques were employed, students from Mrs. Mercer, Mrs. Yamnitz, and Mrs. Wilson's kindergarten classes evaluated the color techniques of the 8th grade students using a scoring guide. Students who passed all three categories were given a sticker by their kindergarten teachers. This is an excellent example of collective efficacy and cooperative learning between grades and disciplines where teachers collaborate and create lesson ideas for students of multiple ages.

Making Connections Are What Dragons Do
When I went to the Kindergarten I learned that anybody can learn from anyone, when we went down to the Kindergarten we got to learn from the little kids. I think the Kindergarten students learned that it doesn't matter how old or young someone is, you can still all learn from each other.-Jacey Bauman
From doing to the kindergarten class room I learned that even if someone is younger than you they still have some of the same knowledge and abilities you do. I believe the kindergarten students learned that even as we get older we are still learning-Kennedi Fisher
I learned that some of the little kids were a little more brave than others, and were more talkative than I expected them to be. I think they may have learned that its okay to communicate with people much bigger than you and older than you.-Nathan Cummings

One thing I learned was younger kids are a lot more creative than most people think. I think the kindergartners learned is that teaching isn't always as it seems.-Jeffrey Hunter
Seeing how the middle school students were coloring helped them find easier ways to color. I saw that most of the kids were smiling and having fun with their partners. They were also pointing to the older kids' papers as if they were telling them what to do.-Noah Jordan
I learned how to color inside the lines. I think the little ones learned how to grade a little bit and make new friends. I observed in the classroom that the tables and chairs are lot smaller than the ones in the middle school. I think they learned new skills like making new friends.-Daltyn Heffner
